Welcome to Our Classroom!

Welcome!

This is a blog for Mrs. Hornsby's 2015-2016 4th grade math and science classes.

It is for students, parents, and friends to see all of the awesome things happening in 4th grade!

Let's start with a quick tour around our room.

This was the classroom before Mrs. Hornsby "moved in", summer of 2015.

Now, it looks a bit different...

Calendar, Date format, Math/Science standards and "I Can" statements for each week.

Our classroom expectations (S3R) and Compliment Builder.
We add a piece to Mr. Potato Head every time we get a class compliment.
When we put him together completely, we vote on a special treat or activity.

This is our ReadBox area. Students check out books and check them back in as needed.

These are just a few of our math manipulatives. We use the AMSTI Investigations math program, as well as many CCRS resources.  Our content and pacing are entirely standards-based.

This is a sample of our science materials. We regularly use pipettes, thermometers, graduated cylinders, measuring spoons, and many other items for Science Labs.
We also use a complete standards-based approach to content and pacing in science.

This is our technology area, hanging solar system, additional student and teacher books, and Mrs. Hornsby's filing cabinets.
She has pictures of former students and notes from them decorating the cabinets.
We love Phinneas and Ferb - can you tell?

This is what our room looks like from the front door.

The rebus on the outside of the door. Can you figure out our secret?

4th Grade is A-MAZE-ING!
